ABSTRACT

The interrelationship between obesity and sleep apnea has been widely discussed in the literature. In a case of an obese 62-year-old patient who had been suffering from insomnia for several years, getting worse and worse, hospitalized for treatment. When examining the treating physician, finding that the patient has clinical symptoms of typical sleep apnea, accompanied by many underlying diseases, a polysomnogram should be performed with the help of nasal oxygen.

The results of polysomnography shed light on the cause of the patient's insomnia. The use of CPAP ventilators during the night helped patients gradually return to normal life.

RÉSUMÉ

L'interrelation entre l'obésité et l'apnée du sommeil a été largement discutée dans la littérature. Dans le cas d'un patient obèse de 62 ans qui souffrait d'insomnie depuis plusieurs années, de plus en plus grave, hospitalisé pour traitement. Lors de l'examen du médecin traitant, constatant que le patient présente des symptômes cliniques d'apnée du sommeil typique, accompagnés de nombreuses maladies sous-jacentes, un polysomnogramme doit être effectué à l'aide d'oxygène nasal.

Les résultats de la polysomnographie éclairent la cause de l'insomnie du patient. L'utilisation de ventilateurs CPAP pendant la nuit a aidé les patients à reprendre progressivement une vie normale.
